Avangrid Power Generation Projects Contribute $61 Million in Taxes in 2025

Tax payments support local and regional public services across Avangrid’s portfolio

ORANGE, Conn. — April 27, 2026 — Avangrid, Inc., a leading energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that it paid $61 million in local property taxes and payments in lieu of taxes in 2025 on behalf of its operating power generation projects. With operations in 25 states and over 11 Gigawatts of installed capacity, Avangrid not only generates energy to meet growing demand across the country but contributes to the economic health of communities across the country.

Tax contributions and payments in lieu of taxes (PILOT) from Avangrid’s energy projects are critical economic drivers in communities from coast to coast. They infuse local school districts with significant funding that helps to pay for educational programs, capital projects, and more. This revenue also supports local public services, including road improvements, emergency services, community centers, and libraries. Payments from Avangrid’s energy projects help to reduce the tax burden on local residents.

In Oregon, Avangrid contributed nearly $20 million in combined taxes and PILOT payments last year on behalf of 16 operating projects. For example, Avangrid’s Klamath Energy plant paid $1.7 million in 2025 property taxes to Klamath County.

“That’s the equivalent of 1,000 homes in Klamath County,” said Klamath County Commissioner Derrick DeGroot. “The amount that is paid to the general fund for law enforcement is about four sheriff’s deputies. They pay $360,000 a year toward the school bond that built Klamath Union High School, our local high school.”

Last year in New Mexico, Avangrid contributed more than $2 million in PILOT payments on behalf of its El Cabo and La Joya projects. El Cabo and La Joya have a combined capacity of 600 MW.

“The generation of power has helped the county tremendously financially,” said Torrance County Commissioner Kevin McCall. “We entered into a 30-agreement with Avangrid. It’s not just money today, it’s not money tomorrow. The community will benefit for that long.”

Avangrid’s tax contributions support local communities and supplement other work within the company. Last year, Avangrid contributed more than $200,000 to over 80 local, non-profit organizations across 20 states on behalf of its operating fleet through its Community Sponsorship program. The Avangrid Foundation provided more than $3.1 million in grants to 73 organizations in 2025.
