What to expect in our hiring process
We’re excited that you’re interested in joining our team! To help you feel prepared and informed, we are providing the below overview of what happens once your application is reviewed by our Talent Acquisition (TA) team.
1. Recruiter Review & Prescreen
After you apply:
- A Recruiter reviews your application to see if your prior work experience and qualifications align with the role for which you applied.
- If it appears, based on your prior work experience and qualifications, that you may be a good candidate for the role, the Recruiter will contact you to learn more about your skills, interests, and career goals.
- If your application is not selected for the next steps for the particular vacancy, you are welcome to apply for other available positions that are posted.
2. Hiring Manager Review
Your resume is then shared with the Hiring Manager, who, based on the applicable resumes, selects which candidates to interview. If the Hiring Manager selects you to move forward:
- Talent Acquisition will reach out to coordinate interview scheduling and next steps.
3. Interview Scheduling
Your interview may take place:
- Virtually via Microsoft Teams, or
- In person, depending on the role and the Hiring Manager’s preference.
Most interviews are scheduled for 30 minutes to 1 hour (based on the role and interview panel).
You’ll also receive:
- The names and titles of your interviewers and
- Meeting details or directions (if in person).
4. Your Interview Panel
Most interview panels include 2–3 people who are familiar with the responsibilities of the role.
Our interviewers are expected to:
- Ask consistent, job related questions,
- Evaluate candidates objectively and fairly, and
- Provide a welcoming, professional experience.
We strive to ensure integrity and fairness in the interview process. At Avangrid, we provide equal employment and advancement opportunities for all employees and candidates regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability, veteran status or any other status protected by federal, state, or local law.
If you are an individual with a disability who is unable to use our online tool to search for or to apply for jobs or participate in the interview process, you may request a reasonable accommodation by contacting our People and Organization department at careers@avangrid.com.
5. Our Commitment to a Fair Process
We train our Hiring Managers and interviewers to:
- Stay focused on your skills and experience,
- Avoid bias in evaluations,
- Support a structured and respectful interview experience, and
- Seek qualified individuals who meet the needs of the business.
We want all candidates to feel valued and empowered to share their strengths.
6. After the Interview
Once your interview(s) are complete:
- The Hiring Manager and panel discuss and/or review feedback,
- Talent Acquisition will follow up with you regarding next steps or decisions, and
- We aim to keep communication timely and transparent.
Even if a decision takes time, we make every effort to keep you informed.
Our Goal
We want every candidate, whether or not selected, to walk away with a positive, respectful, and transparent experience.
