Participation in the public life of the communities in which Avangrid has a presence is an essential facet of its activities. Two objectives of Avangrid’s public activities are engagement with the communities in which the company operates and accurately and transparently conveying its position to the various Stakeholders.

 

Avangrid actively participates in public and private discussions related to public policy with federal and state officials, trade groups, and other stakeholders. This participation is governed by federal and state laws, as well as Avangrid`s internal policies and protocols, which are provided in its Governance and Sustainability System document.

In such activities, Avangrid ensures that our engagement is aligned with applicable law and the company’s overall policies, purpose and values. Avangrid is committed to an energy model that prioritizes the well-being of people and the preservation of the planet. 

In line with its strategy, one of the most significant issues that Avangrid addresses in its public activities is its role as a driver of an energy transition based on a safe, clean, and efficient system that contributes to a more sustainable future. In this regard, Avangrid supports ambitious objectives and frameworks for climate policies that are in line with the Paris Agreement and creates value for society.
 

Our Statement

Climate change is a serious threat and one of the most significant challenges of the 21st century. Avangrid is committed to the fight against climate change. This commitment is aligned with the Paris Agreement. Avangrid seeks to contribute actively and decisively to a low carbon and sustainable future, delivering clean, low emission energy, minimizing the environmental impact of our activities and supporting and promoting actions that address climate change. These efforts must also be compatible with social and economic growth.
