Funding reinforces Avangrid’s commitment to supporting the communities in which it operates
ORANGE, Conn. — November 20, 2025 — Avangrid, Inc., a leading energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced that it supported over 80 local non-profit organizations across 20 states in 2025 on behalf of its fleet of operating energy projects. Through its Community Sponsorship Program, the company will have distributed over $200,000 to these organizations in 2025, reinforcing Avangrid’s commitment to uplifting and empowering communities where it operates.
“When we build a project, we make a commitment to the community for the long haul,” said Avangrid CEO Jose Antonio Miranda. “Our employees don’t just produce the electricity we use every day, but they pride themselves in being active members of the cities and counties where they live and work. Avangrid’s community sponsorship program represents another way in which the people who operate our projects give back to their neighbors.”
Employees at Avangrid’s operating facilities advocate annually for the organizations they wish to sponsor, helping the company foster strong relationships with surrounding communities.
In Oregon, for example, Avangrid contributed to the Columbia Gorge Food Bank in The Dalles on behalf of several operating facilities in the region. Funding supported multiple key fundraising activities, including the food bank’s annual signature fundraising event, Empty Bowls, and the Turkey Trot. The Columbia Gorge Food Bank is also able to use the gift where it’s needed most – often for sourcing and distributing food for the community, including supplemental food purchases when needed.
“Partnering with Avangrid has been valuable on many levels — from volunteering on facility maintenance and spring cleanup, to supporting our annual fundraiser, and trusting us to use their donation where it’s needed most,” said Leah Hall, Community Philanthropy Manager at Columbia Gorge Food Bank. “Their support allows us to respond to the community’s changing needs and provide food and services where they’re most impactful. Our mission is to eliminate hunger and its root causes, and unrestricted gifts like this give us the flexibility to do that effectively.”
In Pennsylvania, Avangrid provided funds to the Meyersdale Public Library this year on behalf of its nearby Casselman energy project. The sponsorship is helping the library better serve the community with resources and programming.
“We are very grateful for the funds from Avangrid,” said Terri Foster, Library Director at the Meyersdale Public Library. “The nonprofit sector has been impacted by many unexpected developments and challenges over the past year. The funds allowed us to expand some services and avoid cutting expenses. The biggest impact for patrons has been with our large print section, where we increased large print book purchases and expanded the available space for large print items.”
In Ohio, Avangrid sponsored Main Street Van Wert’s Endowment Dinner this fall on behalf of its Blue Creek energy project. Sponsorship helped pay for and promote the sold-out event, which brought more than 100 community members together for the organization’s first-ever Murder Mystery Dinner. The event was a collaboration between Main Street Van Wert, R Place, and the Van Wert Civic Theatre.
“The Avangrid sponsorship has made a tremendous impact on Main Street Van Wert,” said Mitch Price, Executive Director of Main Street Van Wert. “Their support helped us bring a new and exciting community event to life, strengthening partnerships and celebrating the ongoing revitalization of our downtown.”
