Company surpasses its total 2023 recognitions in just six months
Awards span all aspects of its businesses, including HR, sustainability, emergency response and climate action
ORANGE, Conn. — July 3, 2024 — Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, announced today that it has earned fifteen awards and recognitions in the first six months of 2024. These accolades span all aspects of its businesses and are from well-respected organizations such as USA Today, Ethisphere, JUST Capital, Forbes, Edison Electric Institute and Barron’s. In addition, Avangrid CEO Pedro Azagra earned the prestigious honor this year of a being named a Trailblazer in Clean Energy by City & State.

Avangrid’s 2024 awards and recognitions highlight all aspects of the company’s clean energy leadership—from employee wellness and recruitment to sustainability efforts and emergency response. With fifteen earned honors, Avangrid has already surpassed its 2023 total of 14 accolades.
The company’s 2024 recognitions are:
- America’s Best Employers for Diversity, Forbes: Leading companies with top diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) best practices.
- America’s Climate Leaders, by USA Today: The top U.S. companies that achieved the greatest reduction in their core emissions (scopes 1 and 2) intensity between 2020 and 2022. This is Avangrid’s second consecutive year on the list.
- Campus Forward Award, by RippleMatch: The country’s top 50 early career programs. Avangrid was recognized for its Internship and Global Graduate programs.
- Climate Change Project of the Year, by Environmental Business Council of New England: Recognizes a project or endeavor which demonstrates leadership in climate change. Avangrid was selected for its project Vineyard Wind 1, the country’s first large scale offshore wind farm.
- Cultural Transformation Award, by Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative: Avangrid’s Customer Experience and Digital Center of Excellence was recognized as an innovative way to improve customer experience and engagement within the utility industry.
- Eddy Award, by Pension & Investments: For Avangrid’s groundbreaking Student Loan Debt Repayment Program, which saved employees more than $1.5 million last year in principal and estimated interest.
- Emergency Assistance Award (CMP), by Edison Electric Institute: For Central Maine Power’s (CMP) outstanding recovery efforts following a strong wind and rainstorm in December 2023 which knocked out power to 400,000 CMP customers.
- Emergency Assistance Award (NYSEG and RG&E), by Edison Electric Institute: For New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) and Rochester Gas and Electric’s (RG&E) extraordinary recovery efforts following Winter Storm Finn in January 2024.
- Handshake Early Talent Award, by Handshake: The country’s best employers for Gen Z employees (college students to 26-year-olds) looking to launch and expand their careers.
- JUST Jobs Scorecard, by JUST Capital: Avangrid was named a Top Performer for high marks in the categories of Employee Wellness and Training & Development.
