Avangrid Named Handshake Early Talent Award Winner

Recognition celebrates the country’s best employers for Gen Z employees looking to launch and expand their careers

ORANGE, Conn. — May 15, 2024 — Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company and a member of the Iberdrola Group, announced today that it has earned a 2024 Handshake Early Talent Award (ETA). This recognition celebrates the country’s best employers for Gen Z employees (college students to 26-year-olds) looking to launch and expand their careers.

“Recruiting early career talent is essential for our long-term success,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “Early career professionals bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, they contribute to a more diverse workforce, and they create a pipeline of future leaders. We are honored to earn this award from Handshake and look forward to continuing to expand our recruitment efforts and cultivate relationships with job seekers.”

Handshake is a top job platform for early career job seekers used by college students and recent graduates. Now in their fourth year, the ETAs celebrate the best employers that are driving positive career outcomes and standing out with emerging talent. Winners are chosen for their brand resonance, engaging effectively, actively participating in career fairs and recruitment events, and maintaining year-round relationships with students.

Avangrid is one of a select group in its industry to be recognized out of 900,000+ employers using Handshake. Specifically, Avangrid shined in events, receiving three times more RSVPs on average than winning companies in the industry, and in career fairs, receiving a perfect score by filling all one-on-one sessions. Avangrid also scored 7% higher than the winning company average on early identification messaging, highlighting the company’s dedication to building relationships over time.

This is the second time this year that Avangrid has been recognized for its early career programs. In January, Avangrid was selected among the Top 50 Midsize Early Career Programs by RippleMatch for the company’s Internship and Global Graduate program.
