Supplier Diversity Program

Our Commitment

Our Energy is Made of Diversity

Our Mission Statement

At Avangrid, diversity encompasses all the dimensions that make each of us one-of-a-kind, including ethnicity, race, age, gender, sexual orientation, personality, beliefs, nationality, experiences, perspectives, and more. We believe innovation thrives in inclusive environments where our inherent worth is recognized, we can be authentic with one another, and know we belong to something bigger. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy has three areas of focus, with several initiatives tied to each: Increase Representation, Drive Opportunity, and Build Community.

As part of this roadmap, we are committed to promoting an inclusive environment through equitable and competitive business practices that strengthen the participation of ethnic minority-owned, women-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, veteran-owned, people with disabilities, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex individuals (LGBTQI+) owned businesses in our purchases of goods and services.

We value building strong relationships with diverse suppliers and will take proactive steps to provide purchasing opportunities to these businesses to maximize their representation in the procurement process.

Avangrid's goals for our Supplier Diversity program include:

  • Actively seeking out certified diverse suppliers that can provide competitive, high-quality goods and services whose business model is aligned with our business strategy.
  • To assist diverse businesses in becoming competitive sources of supply through strategies such as mentoring, education, and supplier sub-contracting.
  • Communicating the value of supplier diversity both internally and externally to all stakeholders.

Avangrid recognizes the positive impact diversity brings to our employees, clients, and communities we serve and will strive to ensure the inclusion of diverse suppliers as a part of our strategic sourcing and procurement processes.

2025 Aspirations: Increase our spend with certified Diverse Suppliers to $300M

Our 2022 goal was $150 M with diverse suppliers → We spent $195 M → Creating an economic impact

To move forward in achieving our supplier diversity aspirations, we are taking the following actions:

  • Building awareness within our purchasing community at Avangrid.
  • Growing Avangrid's external presence and visibility.
  • Continuing to review best practices in Supplier Diversity.
  • Engaging with certifying organizations to aid in building strong relationships.

Avangrid's commitments to our communities, our people, and the environment make us one of the most sustainable, socially responsible energy companies in the country. Studies show that working with diverse suppliers stimulates fresh ideas, brings us closer to our local communities, and drives increasingly innovative and creative services to Avangrid.
