Honored for outstanding commitment to early career development

ORANGE, Conn. — July 31, 2024 — Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company and a member of the Iberdrola Group, announced today that it has been selected for the 2024 Yello Top 100 Internship Programs List. Avangrid earned its spot on this competitive list for its outstanding Internship and Graduate programs.

“While other companies may be scaling down their internship programs, we are scaling up,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “Over the last two years, Avangrid has significantly increased the number of interns we hire and the conversion rate of those interns to full-time employees. We accomplished this by prioritizing intern hires and by expanding full-time opportunities for early career professionals through formal rotational programs. These programs are the foundation of how we attract, develop and engage top talent. I am pleased to see them recognized as among the best in the country.”

Avangrid’s paid Internship Experience is ten weeks and includes interactive workshops, networking events and final presentations to business areas. This year, Avangrid has more than 100 interns supporting business-critical projects around the company, such as big data, cybersecurity, smart solutions and renewable expansions. The experience prepares interns for successful careers by teaching them practical skills in a structured learning journey, challenging them with real-world projects, and connecting them with senior leaders.

Avangrid’s Graduate program is a two-year rotational development program for early career employees. Participants grow their careers by continuing the structured learning journey, building connections with their coworkers and achieving business-critical goals. The program rotates employees through three to four challenging assignments both locally and abroad in an Iberdrola Group location. Upon completion of
the program, employees transition into their permanent roles on their hiring manager’s team. Avangrid currently has more than 140 Graduates in its workforce.

“This award is a huge honor and a testament to our dedication and commitment to our early career professionals,” said Anna Grillo, program manager of early career development at Avangrid. “I’m proud of the support system we offer our early career professionals—from when they start as interns to when they graduate from a formal development program as future leaders or technical specialists. It is so rewarding to see them applying the skills they learned and making an impact on Avangrid. I want students to know that if they choose to work at Avangrid, their development will be our top priority and the possibilities for their future are endless.”

Yello's Top 100 Internship Programs List is determined by public voting and a panel of industry experts who consider many different aspects of the programs. Yello reports that selection to this year’s list was particularly competitive due to the hundreds of program nominations it received.
