AVANGRID Marks New Year by Reaffirming Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
ORANGE, Conn. — Jan. 14, 2021 — As we welcome a New Year, AVANGRID (NYSE: AGR), a leading clean energy company, is reaffirming its commitment to a culture that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. This commitment starts at the top and extends throughout the company’s employee base and to its customers and into the community.
“Diversity is key to building a sustainable business model centered around ESG+F – stewardship of the Environment and Society, while maintaining prudent Governance practices and Financial strength,” said Dennis V. Arriola, CEO of AVANGRID. “Diverse perspectives drive innovation, resulting in better ideas, better products and better service for our customers and our communities. Our commitment is to empower those diverse perspectives in our workplace every day.”
To support its goals, AVANGRID is building on its 2020 efforts with the following initiatives in 2021:
- Signed on to the Paradigm for Parity, joining a coalition of business leaders dedicated to addressing the corporate leadership gender gap and achieving full gender parity by 2030.
- Signed on to the CEO Action for Diversity & Inclusion, which aims to rally the business community to advance diversity and inclusion within the workplace through a specific set of actions to cultivate a trusting environment where all ideas are welcomed, and employees feel comfortable and empowered.
- AVANGRID’s Management Committee signed a letter reconfirming its commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment.
- Enhanced AVANGRID’s benefits system to attract a diverse workforce, such as bringing on new vendors to support child-care and personal challenges faced by employees and their families.
“We strive to build and sustain a diverse workforce with a rich mix of differences, inclusive workplaces where each of us feel valued and connected, and equitable opportunities to grow and develop – no matter where we work. This vision ensures we will keep our diversity priorities top-of-mind during all business decisions and interactions,” said Arriola.
Last fall, Forbes JUST 100 recognized AVANGRID as one of America’s best corporate citizens, ranking number one within utilities for commitment to the environment and the communities the company serves.
