Avangrid Foundation Invested more than $3 Million to Make Positive Impact in Communities in 2019

ORANGE, Conn. — Jan. 15, 2020 — The Avangrid Foundation built on its growing record of positive community impact in 2019, investing more than $3 million in grants, scholarships and matching gift programs across the United States.

The Foundation provided the support as part of ongoing partnerships with more than 300 partners in more than 30 states. Its investments increased significantly over 2018, when the Foundation provided approximately $2.5 million to support philanthropic causes.

The Avangrid Foundation is an independent, nonprofit organization that funds philanthropic activities primarily impacting communities where AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR) and its companies do business. It is driven by AVANGRID’s purpose of working together to deliver a more accessible clean energy model that promotes healthier, more sustainable communities every day.

Highlights from 2019 included:

  • National Partnerships: The Avangrid Foundation in 2019 cemented partnerships with national organizations that have a major impact in communities where AVANGRID does business, including Habitat for Humanity, the American Red Cross and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation.   • #AVANgives: For the first time, in 2019 the Avangrid Foundation asked AVANGRID employees to nominate community nonprofit organizations to receive grants, with a focus on organizations that provide services to youths. The Foundation Board selected 10 organizations to receive $5,000 grants, in an effort that revealed how invested AVANGRID employees are in their communities. Learn more about the recipients here.
  • “Evicted”: The Avangrid Foundation announced a partnership with the National Building Museum to take the exhibit “Evicted” to more than a dozen communities across the United States over the next four years. The travelling exhibit distills and expands the conversation about America’s housing crisis, first told in the Pulitzer-prize winning book by Princeton-based Sociologist Dr. Matthew Desmond, “Evicted: Poverty and Progress in the American City.” Learn more here.
  • Food Banks: The Foundation in 2019 provided support for food banks in all the major communities in which AVANGRID and its companies work, providing more than 250,000 meals per year from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine.
