Avangrid Foundation Donates $125,000 to Habitat for Humanity to Build

Safe and Affordable Homes

ATLANTA (June 27, 2019) — The Avangrid Foundation, the primary philanthropic arm of a diversified clean energy company, AVANGRID, Inc., today announced a $125,000 donation to commemorate its new national partnership with Habitat for Humanity, a nonprofit organization that helps families build and improve places to call home. This contribution will help Habitat create more affordable housing, making the dream of homeownership a reality for families across the country.

“Helping to build sustainable, vital and healthy communities is our driving force at the Avangrid Foundation,” said Nicole Licata Grant, Director Avangrid Foundation. “We are proud to be a new national partner to Habitat for Humanity and to help build homes where families can find stability and thrive, especially in places where AVANGRID’s infrastructure provides a vital resource that powers everyday life and work.”

The Avangrid Foundation’s contribution will be designated primarily toward building affordable homes in communities where AVANGRID has an operating presence, including Connecticut, New York, Maine, Oregon, Western Massachusetts and Ohio. This donation will also fund Habitat’s Neighborhood Revitalization program and its continued recovery efforts from 2017 hurricanes Harvey, Maria and Irma.

The Avangrid Foundation, in partnership with subsidiaries of AVANGRID, has a long working history with local Habitat organizations, in some locations for more than four decades.

“We’re always happy when our partners are able to give back to communities where they live and work to create more opportunities for their friends and neighbors,” said Julie Laird Davis, vice president, corporate and foundation relations, Habitat for Humanity International. “Every donation and every helping hand building decent and affordable housing makes a difference in our homeowners’ lives for generations to come.”

About Habitat for Humanity

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in local communities across all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
