New Haven, CT — March 5, 2026 — The Avangrid Foundation, the philanthropic arm of leading energy company Avangrid Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today joined the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts to celebrate the ribbon cutting ceremony for the completion of their Mission Expansion Campaign. The Avangrid Foundation’s grant funding supported the major renovation and expansion that increased the capacity of the Ronald McDonald House of New Haven by 11 new guest rooms.
“The Avangrid Foundation is proud to contribute to a space that brings comfort, care, and stability to families navigating serious medical challenges,” said Pablo Colón, Director of Corporate Citizenship and Executive Director of the Avangrid Foundation. “Our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities ensures more families can remain close to their loved ones during critical treatment and focus on their rest and recovery.”
The Mission Expansion Campaign adds eleven new guest rooms, allowing more families to access a comfortable place to stay with private bathrooms, TVs, and dedicated spaces for rest and reflection, while also reconfiguring office space for staff to enhance workflow and improve their ability to support families throughout their healthcare journeys.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts provides essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families, and promote healing when children need healthcare. Through their core program, Ronald McDonald House New Haven, a home away from home for families with children receiving medical care in nearby hospitals, provides comfortable accommodation, meals, emotional support, and community programming. The House ensures that families can stay together—and close to the medical teams caring for their children—during some of life’s most traumatic moments.
