Avangrid Fights Hunger with Company-wide Food Drive
Orange, CT — November 25, 2025 — The Avangrid Foundation, the philanthropic arm of leading energy company Avangrid Inc., a member of the Iberdrola Group, today announced it hosted a successful companywide food drive to benefit local food pantries across its service areas and fight hunger over Thanksgiving and the holiday season. Over 700 Avangrid employees collected more than 10,000 food items for 20 food pantries.
“At Avangrid, we know that energy is only part of what powers strong communities, and this Thanksgiving our food drive is about joining forces to fight hunger and support our neighbors,” said Avangrid CEO Jose Antonio Miranda. “By mobilizing our employees across the country and working together with local food pantries, we are proud to make a meaningful impact for families in need and uplift the communities we call home.”
“Avangrid employees showed incredible generosity through our Thanksgiving food drive and demonstrated that service to our communities is at the heart of who we are,” said Avangrid Deputy CEO Kim Harriman. “Looking towards the holiday season and beyond, we are committed to helping our neighbors in need and building a brighter future together."
The initiative was a weeklong collection effort culminating in a one-day staffed food drive on November 19. Across 27 offices in Connecticut, Maine, New York, and Oregon, employee volunteers staffed donation tables, sorted and counted donations, and coordinated deliveries with local food pantries. In addition to the food drive, the Avangrid Foundation matched each hour of volunteer time and each employee donation with a $15 donation to designated local food pantries, donating a total of $13,500.
Each office partnered with a local food pantry to directly benefit the communities where Avangrid and its subsidiaries operate. Partner food pantries served included: Action for Boston Community Development (ABCD), Augusta Food Bank, Berkshire Community Action Council, Catholic Charities of Chemung County, Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW), Connecticut Foodshare, Father Laurence (Larry) Tracy Advocacy Center, Hands on Hartford, Ithaca Salvation Army, King Ferry Food Pantry, Lift Urban Portland – Lift Up, Putnam Community Action Partnership, Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY, Resurrection Life Fellowship Good Pantry, Salvation Army in Oneonta, Seneca County House of Concern, St. Alexander & St. Joseph Church, Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless, The Locker Project, and Trinity Alliance of the Capital District.
“The Avangrid Foundation serves to strengthen communities, and this food drive is a powerful example of that mission in action,” said Pablo Colón, Executive Director of Avangrid Foundation and Director of Corporate Citizenship at Avangrid. “By supporting local food pantries and empowering our employees to give back during the holiday season, we are helping families in need while living out our commitment to building healthy communities.”
This year to date, the Avangrid Foundation has invested over $500,000 in food security initiatives across the United States, reinforcing its commitment to addressing hunger and supporting families in need. In addition, Avangrid employees have contributed more than 2,000 volunteer hours to food drives and food pantry programming, demonstrating the company’s dedication to strengthening local communities through both philanthropic investment and hands‑on service.
