ORANGE, Conn. — November 16, 2023 — Pedro Azagra, CEO of Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, today issued the following statement following an event in Derby, Connecticut with Governor Ned Lamont to celebrate a ribbon cutting for a 14-megawatt Fuel Cell project that will benefit customers of United Illuminating.

In joining Governor Lamont and FuelCell Energy today, we’re demonstrating the innovative, all-of-the-above approach our company is taking to help deliver a renewable energy future in Connecticut, by procuring the energy from this fuel cell to benefit our customers at United Illuminating. The facility we’re celebrating today, with a 14-megawatt capacity, stands as one of the largest fuel cell projects in the country, and we’re proud to be part of this project and of the larger effort in Connecticut to lead the clean energy transition in the U.S. I commend the leadership of Governor Lamont, Representative Steinberg, and Derby Mayor Dziekan for their support of this important project, and look forward to working with you to advance our shared goal of building a better, brighter clean energy future for Connecticut.”
