Avangrid CEO Pedro Azagra Statement on Climate Week NYC

ORANGE, Connecticut — September 18, 2023 — Pedro Azagra, CEO of Avangrid, Inc (NYSE: AGR), today issued the following statement to kick off Climate Week NYC:

“Climate change is an unprecedented global challenge that is creating an increased importance on providing clean energy solutions around the globe. Events like Climate Week NYC are critical because they raise the conversation around climate action and encourage people from all backgrounds to get engaged and discuss innovative solutions to combat the climate crisis.

“I’m proud that Avangrid is leading the way in the transformation to a clean, renewable, and sustainable energy future while building on our commitments to people and our planet. Everything we do is rooted in our commitment to take action to address climate change and is demonstrated by our aggressive climate targets, such as our pledge to achieve carbon neutrality for emissions by 2030.

“As a member of the Iberdrola Group, a global clean energy leader, we share the same values when it comes to the fight against climate change. For over two decades, Iberdrola has been leading the global transition to clean energy, and this week that work continues with Iberdrola’s Executive Chairman Ignacio Galan joining the UN Climate Ambition Summit and UNICEF Generation Unlimited Council meeting. This commitment and expertise informs our own climate action strategy. All of us need to continue to work together toward our common goal—building a sustainable and equitable clean energy future.”
