Avangrid CEO Pedro Azagra Appointed CEO of The Iberdrola Group

Jose Antonio Miranda named CEO and Kimberly Harriman named Deputy CEO of Avangrid 

Appointments reaffirm strong US focus of Iberdrola and leverages experienced leadership team at Avangrid.

Orange, Connecticut — June 24, 2025 — Avangrid, Inc., today announced that its CEO, Pedro Azagra, has been appointed by Iberdrola Executive Chairman Ignacio Galán and the Iberdrola Board of Directors, as CEO of the Iberdrola, S.A.  With Azagra’s appointment, Jose Antonio Miranda, President and CEO of Avangrid Power and Kimberly Harriman, currently SVP, Public and Regulatory Affairs, have been named CEO and Deputy CEO of Avangrid, respectively. 

Mr. Azagra has overseen Avangrid during a period of substantial growth in both financial performance and project development and execution. He has a built a strong management team at Avangrid, which will allow the company to build on his vision to serve the group as it continues to advance its leadership in the global energy industry.

Mr. Azagra has served as Avangrid CEO since May of 2022 and successfully led the company out of the challenges of the pandemic and the implications of record inflation and supply chain constraints. Before coming to Avangrid, he served as Chief Development Officer for Iberdrola, S.A., where he has executed more than one hundred and twenty transactions valued more than $120Bn and led the international expansion of Iberdrola to markets such as USA, UK, Brazil, Australia, Greece, France, Germany, Japan, Sweden, and Poland. In addition, Mr. Azagra serves as a member of the board of directors of Neoenergia, S.A., a member of the Iberdrola group of companies listed on the São Paulo Stock Exchange. He is also member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Edison Electric Institute in the U.S. and member of the Board of Trustees of the Yale New Haven Hospital in Connecticut.

 Jose Antonio Miranda

Mr. Miranda has served as President and CEO of Avangrid Power since October of 2021 and has led the growth of the company’s energy generation business in the United States, including improved financial performance and solid project delivery.  Mr. Miranda’s leadership in power generation has allowed Avangrid to achieve over 10GW of generation capacity, serving over 3.1 million customers across the U.S. He has extensive international leadership experience in the industry. Prior to joining Avangrid Power, he was CEO for Siemens Gamesa Americas and was the Chairman of its Boards in the US, Mexico, and Brazil leading activities in North America and Latin America. He also served as Chairman and CEO of Gamesa in China and for ten years held various leadership roles in the transmission and distribution business area for the multinational engineering firm ABB.

Mr. Miranda has a master’s degree in business administration from ICADE (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, Madrid, Spain) and a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Oviedo in Spain.

 Kimberly Harriman

Ms. Harriman joined Avangrid in December of 2020 and was promoted to SVP, Public and Regulatory Affairs in June of 2022.  She coordinates state government relations and regulatory affairs for electric and gas utility subsidiaries in New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Maine and power generation projects across 22 states.

Prior to Avangrid, Ms. Harriman worked for over 20 years on energy issues for the state of New York. She served as Senior Vice President of Public & Regulatory Affairs at the New York Power Authority. Before joining NYPA, Harriman was General Counsel at the Department of Public Service and also served as Assistant Counsel on major rate and siting cases, prudence proceedings, and major policy cases, as well as an Administrative Law Judge presiding in major utility rate cases and other proceedings involving regulated utilities. Harriman also served as lead energy advisor at the state and federal levels for the New York Governor’s Office. 
  
Ms. Harriman graduated from Albany Law School of Union University and holds a BA in political science with a minor in economics from Siena College.
