AVANGRID Announces New In-Person Payment System for Connecticut and Massachusetts Companies

ORANGE, Connecticut — December 20, 2017 — AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a diversified U.S. energy company, has contracted with Western Union, a leader in global payment services, to provide a walk-in payment option for consumers in Connecticut and Massachusetts who want to pay in cash.

Customers of United Illuminating (UI), Southern Connecticut Gas (SCG), Connecticut Natural Gas (CNG) and Berkshire Gas of Massachusetts can pay bills at Western Union® Agent locations, effective immediately.

“We know that when customers do business with us, they prefer to have options that provide payment flexibility and suit their personal and financial needs,” said Bill Reis, AVANGRID’s vice president of Customer Care for Connecticut and Massachusetts. “We believe this offering will result in an improved experience for those customers who choose to pay their bills in-person.”

Customers of UI, SCG and Berkshire Gas will be able to make payments at Western Union agent locations, which can be found by visiting http://locations.westernunion.com/us or calling 800-325-6000 for a complete listing. CNG customers will initially be able to pay at select locations; consumers can visit cngcorp.com, select “Customer Care” and choose “Payment Agents” to find these locations.

Reis said UI, SCG, CNG and Berkshire Gas are also committed to offering various payment options that suit customers’ individual needs, all of which can be found on the companies’ websites.

“A good place to start is by visiting your company online and registering for My Account,” Reis said. “It’s free to register, and when you join, you can sign up for paper-free electronic billing, and also schedule automated payments direct from the account of your choice — so you’ll never worry about missing another payment. You can also set up email and text alerts to let you know when a bill is ready or when your usage exceeds a specified amount.”

Reis added: “Customers who want to dig deeper into their billing and usage can find historic data and analytical tools, and even set up an energy profile that can suggest ways to save money and energy.”
