About Us
Avangrid as part of a 50-50 Joint Venture with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, is constructing the first large-scale offshore wind project in the United States, Vineyard Wind 1. The project is located 14 miles south of Martha’s Vineyard, off the coast of Massachusetts. The project is currently under construction, and will deliver clean energy to 400,000 homes and businesses in the Commonwealth.
Avangrid is also developing the New England Wind 1 and New England Wind 2 projects. Combined, New England Wind 1 and 2 offer the region 1870 MW of clean, reliable offshore wind power, enough to power nearly 1 million homes and reduce emissions by nearly 4 million U.S. tons, equivalent to taking 700,000 cars off the road annually. Among the most advanced offshore wind opportunities in the nation, New England Wind received a favorable Record of Decision from the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management in April 2024.
Additionally, Avangrid is developing Kitty Hawk Wind, which has the potential to deliver 3500 Megawatts to Virginia and North Carolina, enough clean energy to power 1 million homes and businesses in the region while creating jobs and economic development.
