About the Avangrid Foundation
We put energy into what really matters
The Avangrid Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) organization focused on mission-driven giving to help address and reduce social and environmental inequities. Based in Orange, Connecticut, the Avangrid Foundation is the principal philanthropic arm of Avangrid. Since its founding in 2001, the Foundation has invested more than $45 million to address its four pillars of giving.
In addition to direct funding, the Foundation amplifies its impact by supporting volunteering and giving opportunities for Avangrid employees in communities where Avangrid and its subsidiaries operate and serve. The Foundation’s work is driven by a commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a set of priorities that address the most critical social, environmental, and economic challenges we face on a global scale.
National Reach and Local Focus
We provide support to help national partners like Habitat for Humanity and the American Red Cross carry out their missions. We also support a diverse range of local and regional organizations addressing critical issues. In order to create long-term community impact, we approach potential partnerships through a lens of aiming to address root causes and structural barriers with our investments.
The Avangrid Foundation is an affiliate of the Iberdrola Foundation, based in Spain. The giving carried out by the Avangrid Foundation is wholly independent of Iberdrola, the Avangrid Management Company and/or locally-based corporate contributions programs administered by the subsidiaries and operating companies of Avangrid.
The Foundation’s investments are part of an annual coordinated planned giving process cultivated and overseen by an independent Board of Directors and the Iberdrola Foundation Committee.
