Since 2018, the Avangrid Foundation has committed to the American Red Cross as a Disaster Responder partner. No strangers to emergency response and often working alongside the Red Cross in disasters, this investment in our fellow First Responders provides one of the highest levels of support toward relief efforts across the nation.

In February 2019, the Foundation announced a $1 Million, three-year partnership with the nation’s largest private conservation grant-maker, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF). The largest multi-year grant the Foundation has made to date, the funding with go to support three NFWF initiatives.

The National Building Museum in partnership with the Avangrid Foundation, will bring the traveling and immersive exhibit “Evicted” to more than a dozen cities across the United States over the next four years. Based on the Pulitzer-prize winning work “Evicted: Poverty and Progress in the American City” by Princeton-based Dr. Matthew Desmond the exhibit uses data and storytelling to speak to issues at the root of what it means to “build community.”

Starting in 2018, the Avangrid Foundation undertook a partnership with the Wadsworth Atheneum, the nation’s oldest public continuously-operating public art museum, located in Hartford, Connecticut. The partnership has provided Energy Efficient Lighting Improvements for the acclaimed Wadsworth, Morgan, Austin and Hilles Galleries (301-303) which will be completed in Spring 2019.

In partnership with local subsidiary Central Maine Power the Foundation has an going partnership with KVCC to provide scholarships and equipment to support future lineworkers and electric technology professionals. The Kennebec Valley Community College Electrical Lineworker Technology program (ELT) program is the only dedicated program of its kind in all of New England.

The Avangrid Foundation, in partnership with Avangrid Renewables, teamed up with the Trail Blazers Foundation to support youth from historically underserved communities throughout the region. The Avangrid Foundation is the sponsor for the Live Greener grants, a partnership that connects youth the environment through education, preservation, and employment. In 2018, the three-year partnership generated the first of its philanthropic gifts totaling $70,000 to nine organizations operating across the Pacific Northwest, benefiting hundreds of at-risk youth and families. 2018 marked the first time that the Avangrid Foundation and Avangrid Renewables participated in the Live, Learn & Play grant program.

The Monroe Community College Foundation (MCC) and the Avangrid Foundation came together in 2016 to fund the Single Stop program at MCC in Rochester, NY. "Single Stop" focuses on student retention and overcoming barriers to completing education, with wrap-around services co-housed with the College such as assistance with food benefits, transportation, child care, health care and tax preparation. The program provides underserved students external economic resources and support for basic needs they need while they complete their education.
