Former UIL Honored As Corporation Of The Year By Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council
New Haven, Conn. (April 1, 2016) — The former UIL Holdings Corporation and its operating companies - The United Illuminating Company, The Southern Connecticut Gas Company, Connecticut Natural Gas Corporation - was recognized as the Corporation of the Year by the Greater New England Minority Supplier Development Council. UIL Holdings merged with Iberdrola USA to form AVANGRID, Inc. (NYSE: AGR) last year. The Council presented the award at its 41st Annual Awards dinner.

For the past 15 years, UI has been involved with the Council, helping to support the growth of minority-owned business in Connecticut. Company employees volunteer as corporate speakers or trainers at workshops where entrepreneurs and business owners earn certification and receive assistance in building their businesses in their communities.
Since 2013, UI has been one of the funding sponsors of the Diverse Supplier Development Academy, another Connecticut-based nonprofit that assists businesses owned or operated by minorities, women and disabled veterans.
